Copycat Costa Ham & Cheese Toasties made at home in less than 10 minutes. Brilliant for a quick and easy lunch for the kids!

Airfryer Ham & Cheese Toastie served on a white round plate, and garnished with carrot sticks, cucumber slices and half a strawberry.

My kids have discovered the hot Ham & Cheese Toasties that they sell in Costa. They’re great for a speedy lunch when you’re out and about but they’re now asking for them constantly!

So I’ve made my own recreation at home and I honestly think they’re just as good!

The secret to making these extra cheesy and creamy is to add a layer of cheese spread in the toastie and also on top too.

Seriously Strong Lighter Spreadable Cheese in a blue pot

I start off by adding some cheese spread to a slice of bread with a little American mustard.

You can use Dijon or English mustard too but the American mustard is much milder and better for kids.

A Bottle of French's Classic Yellow Mustard

Add some ham and grated cheddar cheese.

Then top with a second slice of bread.

On top add some more cheese spread and grated cheese.

Place in the airfryer and cook at 180c for 6 mins.

Top Tip – Some airfryers (mine included) have a very strong fan which can send the top slice of bread and grated cheese flying everywhere! To prevent this press the sandwich together and also push the grated cheese into the cheese spread.

Once cooked, slice in half or into quarter and serve up.

I add some fresh fruit and veg to the side. My kids absolutely loved this and I hope yours do too!

My kids love a Costa toastie, but with four children the cost is unbelievable.

We will be giving this a try. Thank you for the idea.
