In the winter it can be nice to sometimes give the kids a hot breakfast and also something that’s high in protein that will keep them full all morning.

I recently started making these Sausage & Cheese Soldiers and my kids absolutely love them.

They’re cooked in the airfryer, along with the egg, making it a super quick and easy breakfast ready in under 10 minutes.

Which Air Fryer Is The Best?

There’s so many different air fryers out there on the market at the moment. Some of the big brand names are expensive but I have been using this Uten 6.5 Litre Air Fryer since last year and I love it.

It’s really big, perfect for family sized meals and fits a whole chicken too!

The first step is to take a sausage and remove the skin.

I’m using a chicken sausage for this recipe but pork or veggies sausages will work too.

Sausages skins being removed using a pair of sissors.

Once you’ve removed the skin, mash the sausage into a slice of bread.

This is just standard white bread but feel free to use brown, wholemeal or whatever you like.

Sausage meat being spread onto a slice of white bread with a fork.

Then add a little grated cheddar cheese on top.

Grated cheese is now bring added on top of the sausage meat.

Pop that into the airfryer along with an egg.

Cook at 180c for 6 minutes. The egg will be soft boiled so if your kids prefer a hard boiled egg then cook for a little longer.

Slice of bread with sausage meat and cheese on top added to the airfryer along with one egg.

When cooked, cut the Sausage & Cheese toast in soldiers.

I served it with some chopped cherry tomatoes but that’s totally optional.
