Banana Sushi Snack for Kids

Finding healthy snacks that kids actually want to eat can be hard work. As much as we want them to snack on fruits and veggies, getting them away from chocolate and sweets is easier said than done!

I’m a big fan of making snack time as fun as possible for kids; turning it from mindless eating into an activity that they can get involved in.

Realistically I know that most families struggle with time and fitting in activities like this is usually down the bottom of a long list of priorities. But if you do find yourself with some time to spare, maybe on a rainy weekend afternoon, then this is a great activity to get the kids involved in.

The recipe really is so simple. Just peel a banana, add a “sticky” topping like melted chocolate or peanut butter and then add a coating. I’ve used sprinkles, chia seeds, shredded coconut and rice krispies but you can get creative and use whatever you have at home.

Chop the banana into bitesized pieces and serve straight away. You can even try to get the kids to use chopsticks to eat them!

If you try my Banana Sushi please do leave me a comment and a star rating below. You can also share your pictures with me on on Instagram.  I always love to see your creations!

Great idea! I made Sprinkles Sushi with my 4 year old today. It took all of 5 minutes, so super quick and easy to throw together with you have a spare banana. The only thing I did differently was to pop the slices in the freezer until snack time. She thought she was having an indulgent frozen treat – I thought she was having a banana for her snack! Win, win!
