In less than 20 minutes you can make your own nachos at home. We love these for a fun weekend dinner. So easy to make and so delicious too!

Easy nachos served in a large sharing dish and garnished with peppers, spring onions and cherry tomatoes.

A few months ago when my daughter announced that she now loved nachos I was over the moon. Another meal that we can add to our list of things that everyone in the family will eat!

She had them a couple of times at a restaurant so I decided to start making them myself at home.

How To Make Nachos At Home

Nachos are incredibly simple to make yourself at home. Apart from frying the mince, there is no other cooking involved. And the cheese gets melted under the grill.

A really quick and easy family meal, perfect for a weekend treat dinner.

  1. Start off by frying the mince in a frying pan on the hob.
  1. Add some spices, along with a beef stock pot and a little water.
  1. Add tortilla chips to a large oven dish.
  1. Add the beef mixture on top.

Then top with grated cheese and place the dish under the grill for a couple of minutes until the cheese has melted.

And that’s it for the cooking… I told you it was easy!

Nacho Toppings

The final step is to add whatever toppings you like. These are the toppings I used but feel free to use whatever your family enjoys.

For the vegetable toppings I use:

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Spring onions
  • Jalapenos

Then add some sauces or dips:

  • Salsa
  • Guacamole
  • Sour Cream

Variations

This recipe is easy to adapt to make it suitable to

  • Vegetarian – To make this meal vegetarian you can use a meat free alternative such as Quorn mince.
  • Spice level – I kept the spice level low so that the kids would eat this. But if your family like hotter food then feel free to increase the amount of chilli powder.
  • Fussy Eaters – for children you don’t like all their food mixed together, or even if you’re just trying this meal out for the first time with your child, you can separate all the elements of the dish.
