If you are looking for some easy snacks to make for the kids this summer then my Mini Granola Bites are a brilliant option.

The main ingredient is oats which helps to make these a really filling wholegrain snack, packed with fibre, with some protein too from the peanut butter.

Add them to a snack or lunch box along with fruit and veggies for a brilliantly balanced snack guaranteed to keep the hanger at bay on days out!

How To Make Mini Granola Bites

These granola bites are really easy to make. Full ingredients and measurements are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post but I’ve also included some step by step images here that might be helpful.

A quick mention on the texture of these bites – they are soft with a slight crispy bite from the Rice Krispies. If you kids prefer more crunchy flapjacks then my Nut Free Flapjacks might be a better recipe to try.

  1. Add oats, rice krispies and mixed seeds to a large bowl and mix well.
  1. Melt peanut butter, honey and butter together in a saucepan.
  1. Pour this into the bowl and mix really well.
  1. Press the mixture into a lined tin and freeze for 1 hour.

Storing & Freezing

After freezing, cut into 36 mini bites and they are ready to enjoy.

They will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for 1 month.

Nut Free Version

These granola bites obviously contain peanut butter so are not suitable for families with nut allergies or to take into school.

A good alternative to use instead of peanut butter is this Wow Butter. It’s made from soya but tastes exactly like peanut butter.

Snackle Box

This is the Snackle Box I have used in the photos. It’s from my own brand of products for kids.

It’s a large silicone box with 10 different compartments. The individual compartments can be moved around or taken out, meaning you can customise the snackle box depending what size foods you want to include.

Absolutely delicious! I added a few choc chips and instead of the mixed seeds, I used milled mixed seeds (worry about choking with 2 year olds). Will definitely make again when we’ve eaten them

Do you think almond butter would work as a substitute for peanut?
