The Best Kid-Friendly Breakfast Ideas For Summer

July 16, 2025 By Bianca Carey Spencer

If you’re looking for easy breakfast ideas for the kids over the summer holidays, then check out our kid-friendly summer breakfasts. All made with simple ingredients and suitable for kids of all ages!

With the summer holidays in full swing, it might be a good time to change up your breakfast routine!

Although breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it doesn’t need to be the most complicated!

We’ve put together our favourite summery breakfast recipes that the whole family will enjoy!

Kid-Friendly Summer Breakfast Recipes

Breakfast Frozen Yogurt Bark

Breakfast Frozen Yogurt Bark cut into irregular shapes and served on a grey and white marble surface.

This frozen yogurt bark is perfect to serve the kids on a hot summer’s morning for breakfast! Such a simple concept using a few healthy ingredients but has a novelty factor that kids love.

Strawberry & White Chocolate Overnight Oats

Strawberry & White chocolate overnight oats in a glass ramekin topped with fresh chopped strawberries and a teaspoon.

Overnight oats are one of our favourite make-ahead breakfast ideas. Absolutely packed full of whole grains and protein, this simple breakfast idea only takes 5 minutes to prepare.

It can then be popped in the fridge ready for the kids to enjoy a delicious breakfast the next morning! An easy way for kids to enjoy the benefits of porridge oats in the summer.

Quinoa Granola

Quinoa Granola served in a multicolored striped bowl with yogurt and fresh raspberries and blueberries.

An easy recipe for homemade Quinoa Granola made with puffed quinoa, oats, nuts and seeds. Delicious for a really healthy breakfast for the whole family served with greek yogurt and fresh berries.

Coconut & Almond Breakfast Bars

A square coconut and almond breakfast bar, served on a turquoise side plate with a small ramekin of greek yogurt and jam with chopped strawberries and blueberries on the side.

These bars are packed with porridge oats which are great for slow-releasing energy and are full of fibre too.

They are sweetened with bananas and just a little honey and contain healthy plant-based fats from the almond butter and coconut milk.

This breakfast bake is also a great one to batch cook in advance. Then store in the fridge or freezer for quick and easy breakfasts during the week.

Nutella Breakfast Cookies

A Nutella Breakfast Cookie served on a bear face shaped divided plate with a portion of greek yogurt and fresh strawberries and blueberries.

These Breakfast Cookies make a fun alternative to cereal or toast for breakfast, something a little bit different and packed with fibre too.

I don’t know a kid that would say no to cookies for breakfast!

Granola Yogurt Pots

3 small glass pots containing jam, yogurt and granola with brightly coloured lids.

These homemade Granola Yogurt Pots are a little healthier than shop bought ones as you can control the ingredients that go into them and they’re also much cheaper to make too!

DIY Smoothie Bowl For Kids

A blue bowl containing a pink smoothie, freshly chopped fruits and a sprinkling of granola on top.

This simple breakfast idea is a good way to get the kids to put together their own breakfast!

And they will have so much fun choosing their toppings and decorating their bowls that they won’t even realise they are eating something super healthy for breakfast!

Sheet Pan Pancakes

2 Slices of sheet pan pancake on a blue plate with a small pot of yogurt and granola and a few fresh berries on the side.

Got pancake loving kids but don’t fancy spending a hot summer morning over the cooker bashing out batches of pancakes? Then this one’s definitely for you!

These sheet pan pancakes are the easiest way to enjoy pancakes without all the faff!

This recipe also scores bonus points too as any leftovers can be frozen and then defrosted overnight to be served on a morning when you’re short on time!

Frozen Superhero Smoothie

A pink and green frozen smoothie served in a glass jar with a pink striped straw and almond slices on top.

Don’t think your kids would ever try a green smoothie? Then try this Frozen Superhero Smoothie!

A smoothie fit for superheros. With blended frozen bananas, strawberries, spinach and almond milk make this smoothie as delicious as it is vibrant.

A really cooling and refreshing start to a hot summer’s day!

Blueberry & Lemon Weetabix Muffins

A Blueberry & Lemon Weetabix Muffin served on a green Munchkin divided plate with a portion of greek yogurt and freshly chopped strawberry, orange and banana.

These Blueberry and Lemon Muffins are a really good breakfast for a Sunday morning! They feel like a real treat breakfast but in fact the nutritional value of these muffins is actually pretty good!

For breakfast I serve these muffins with a portion of yogurt (this one is plain yogurt topped with some seeds) and a selection of fresh fruit.

Weetabix is fortified with iron so think about adding a source of Vitamin C to your child’s breakfast as that will aid it’s absorption.

Raspberry & Chia Seeds Overnight Oats

Raspberry & Chia Seeds Overnight Oats in a short glass jar with a glass pot of porridge oats in the background.

These overnight oats are an easy way to introduce the benefits of chia seeds to kids without them really noticing them!

Chia seeds have long been toted as a superfood and go perfectly with the raspberries, oats and honey in this super healthy breakfast recipe!

Waffle French Toast

Small squares of waffle french toast served with a small glass ramekin of yogurt and fresh raspberries.

A quick and easy breakfast recipe for kids! All the fun of a waffle but made simple!

Serve with greek yogurt and some fresh summer berries for a breakfast treat!

Sunshine Orange Smoothie

Two orange smoothies served in glass mason jugs with two brightly coloured straws in each jar and a bowl of oranges in the background.

At this time of year you really can’t beat a delicious refreshing smoothie, served up first thing in the morning as part of breakfast.

Breakfast Cake

a Square of breakfast cake served in a green divided plate with a portion of yogurt and fresh summer berries.

Want to make something a little different for the kids for breakfast that’s fun, delicious and healthy too? Try my Breakfast Cake!

This breakfast cake is not only fun, it’s packed full of protein to keep tummies fuller for longer.

Breakfast Frittata

A rectangle a breakfast frittata served in a pink three compartment plate with a small bottle of Actimel and a portion of raspberries and blueberries.

There’s nothing wrong with a simple bowl of cereal for breakfast over the summer holidays!

But if you’d like to serve up something warm that’s also packed with protein you this Breakfast Frittata is one to try.
